Birthday Party at The Ruby Room

We had the opportunity to photograph a happy 60th birthday celebration this past weekend for Susan Mazur. The event took place in the Ruby Room of the Onyx Hotel in Boston. This was a surprise party planned by her husband, Jerry, her two daughters, Jennifer and Laura and their husbands, Brian and Pete. We had a great time, met some very nice people and had a slice of a very large birthday cake. Here are some images from the party...

New Product

Phyllis and I are excited to begin offering a photo guest book! The images for the book will be taken during the engagement shoot then used in the design. We think this is a great idea! In the past the guest book would be put away soon after the wedding day never to be looked at again. Now you will have a great looking album to remind you of the people who shared one of the most important days in your life, plus memories of your love in beautiful images. The images will be surrounded by space to allow your guests to write their thoughts. These books will cost $225 for 10 pages and a wrap around cover using one of your images. Examples of what the pages might look like are below but each book will be designed differently. Your input for what images to use will be encouraged. We will keep introducing new products as the year goes on and we have some surprises coming!! (The first image is page one, the bottom image is the wrap around cover total of 6 spreads and one cover)

Brittany and Mike's Wedding at Brookstones Grill & Event Center

Most recently, Phyllis and I had the pleasure of photographing the wedding of Brittany & Mike at the Brookstone Grill and Event Center in Derry, New Hampshire. It was a great place to have a wedding and we enjoyed working with everyone. Below are some images from the wedding and more can be viewed in our website's gallery.

Child Advocacy Center of Rockingham County Fund Raiser

Phyllis and I had the pleasure of volunteering our photographic services at the "Child Advocacy Center of Rockingham County" last weekend. Their mission ---'is to provide a safe environment for the evaluation of alleged child abuse for children 3 to 18 years of age. Through the collaboration of public, private, and community partners, we work to ensure the safety, health, and well being of abused children.' We believe in this worthy cause and were happy to work with the staff. Their 10th annual fund raising event was held at the center in Portsmouth, New Hampshire. It was a great time with lots of food, a large screen TV as a door prize, some really good country music provided by the Don Campbell Band, and a lively auction. After the auction, the dancing kicked into high gear with everyone enjoying the night. Congratulations to Maureen Sullivan, the Executive Director and her dedicated committee members for putting together this great event. Phyllis and I will continue to donate our services to worthy organizations and would encourage others to do the same.

PICTURES OF THE MONTH FOR MARCH

Hello all. Sorry for posting this so late but we waited until we could announce that after much research, we have selected Zookbinders as our album company. These images represent our first album. We are very excited about using Zookbinders because of the quality of their product. We hope you enjoy seeing them. Our wedding schedule is filling up quickly and we are doing quite a few engagement sessions, also. Spring is almost here and I'm sure, we are all very grateful for that.

Have a great month!

Image of the Month for February

Our image this month is of a lovely young child whose name is Prudence. It was taken during the wedding ceremony of a really fun couple we had the pleasure of photographing on their wedding day, George & Heather. They were married at the Radisson Hotel & Suites in Chelmsford, MA. This hotel featured wonderful twin staircases cascading down from the second floor and was a great place to hold a wedding. (See some more of our images from this wedding at jpbrandanophoto.com .) The staff could not have been more helpful or pleasant .

Prudence, Heather and George's daughter was a delight to photograph and be around. During most of the ceremony, she stayed at her assigned place. However, at a certain point, she must have missed her parents because all of a sudden, she walked up to her mom, took hold of her hand and stayed there for the rest of the ceremony.

I took the image at this perspective for two reasons. First, to emphasize her size and second because like most images including Prudence, it was hard not to focus on her. I hope you enjoy it as much as we did taking it.

Enjoying a Weekend in Wintery New Hampshire

Phyllis and I (as well as everyone else in the northeast) have had enough of the snow and freezing temperatures this year. Unfortunately, it is only February and we have more months of potential snow and cold days ahead. It can be very challenging to enjoy a weekend night, but not this past weekend. We were lucky enough to be invited to photograph and listen to one of our favorite local bands, Bobby Fosmire & the Sharptones (http://www.bobbyfosmire.com/).

Bobby has been performing for over twenty years in many of the top venues in New England, including opening for Three Dog Night at the Boston Hatch Shell on the Charles River. Bobby performs almost every weekend in the New England area. This past weekend he performed at 'Nan King', a Chinese Restaurant in Hudson, NH. Bobby, as usual, was sold out and put on a great show.

Photographically, the low lights made it a challenge to find good images. Shooting with flash, I had to shoot at an ISO of 2000 or better . Even at 3200, it was a challenge to freeze the action. If you visit our web page's gallery (jpbrandanophoto.com) and click 'family events', you can see the rest of the images. A night of great music, dancing and a good meal made the cold temperatures a little easier to manage. Whenever Bobby & the Sharptones perform near you, you should make a point to see them. We guarantee you'll have a great evening, freezing temperatures or not.
