OUR TRIP TO VENICE ITALY, DAY ONE

Of the four European cities we visited this past summer, Venice was the one that captured my spirit, love and respect the most!!
In the next few weeks we will post some of our images from our visit to Venice. Today it will be our first day/night. This first image was taken on the train we took from Roma to Venice. I had to really search for a spot to grab a photo because there were either shrubs, trees or tunnels to shoot around as we moved along.

This is part of our room at the Hilton in Venice. We were greeted with a bottle of Prosecco and chocolate dipped strawberries plus the rose pedals on our bed!!  Not a bad way to start our visit.

Here is the view of Venice across the Grand Canal from our hotel      room.

This is the Church of Santa Maria Rosary on the Grand Canal. On the canal is the St. Marco-Vaporetto stop. The vaporettos are the water taxis that transport you around Venice.

A view of the traffic on the Grand Canal.

The first night we decided to stay close to our hotel for dinner. At the suggestion of our hotel we walked to a restaurant close by.
It was raining a little as you can tell by this image. This was one of the small passageways you find all throughout Venice. This was one of the larger ones lol.

The restaurant was on a small canal off of the Grand Canal. This was the view from our table. This was the view looking in the opposite direction from the Grand Canal.

This was the view a half hour later looking towards the Grand Canal.

Our appetizer was a venetian dish of fresh anchovies and onions, a great starter.

This is one of two brothers that run the restaurant, the other is in the kitchen as the chef.  We had great food and service by a very nice family.

As we sat and enjoyed a great meal, I looked up and saw this sight. An ocean liner was passing by on the Grand Canal. When I saw this, it really hit me we were in Venice!!!

Another enchanting adventure through your gifted photography, Jim! What a romantic city Venice is, and one I certainly would like to see some day, but am gratified for now in being able to appreciate the beauty through your eyes.
Blessings to you!

We missed Venice on our trip a few years back. This certainly seals the desire to return and make Venice a stop on the journey! THank you for sharing!

Wonderful photos! Me and my wife visited Venice along with some other senior citizens as tourists only the last year and those memories will remain in our hearts for the rest of our life. I now regret the fact that we didn't have a talented photographer like you among us.

Venice aside from Firenze is one of my favorite places in Italy...The images you shared were a classic ~ very colorful and alive. I appreciate everything you've shared here.
